Welcome to the start of the 2025-2026 school year! At West Hollywood Elementary, the safety and security of our precious children remain our highest priority. This letter outlines important safety procedures and protocols aligned with Broward County School's expectations to ensure a secure environment for all students.
Each student and staff member will receive an ID badge that must be worn during school hours. If your child misplaces their badge, please have them notify their teacher immediately.
School hours are from 8:10 AM to 2:10 PM. All perimeter gates will remain locked during the school day. The gate on 63rd Avenue will be open from 7:40 AM to 8:15 AM for morning drop-off. Breakfast service begins at 7:40 AM. For any school business, such as early pick-up or arriving after the gates are locked, please contact the front office at (754) 323-7850.
Arrival and dismissal procedures for walkers and bikers are as follows:
- Students walking or biking home alone or with siblings will exit through the walking gates.
- Those using the Turnpike crossing guard will be escorted to the 63rd Avenue gate.
- Students using the 64th Avenue crossing guard will be escorted to the 64th Avenue walking gates.
- Students using the 63rd Avenue crossing guard will be escorted to the 63rd Avenue walking gates.
Please ensure your child knows their designated route home. If you walk home with your child, wait by the turquoise double doors near 63rd Avenue. A staff member will escort your child to you.
The car loop gate on 63rd Avenue opens at 2:05 PM for dismissal. All students in VPK, Head Start, and grades K-5 will be dismissed at 2:10 PM.
For scheduled conferences or front office visits, please use the visitor parking lot and call the front office at (754) 323-7850 for assistance. Kindly avoid parking in the car loop to maintain traffic flow.
The 63rd Avenue car loop serves as the single point of entry for all school business, including student drop-off and pick-up, conferences, and early dismissals. Visitor parking is available, and again, please refrain from parking in the car loop. If arriving after gates are locked, contact the front office.
All visitors must check in through the Raptor Visitor Management System. Bring a valid government issued ID to receive a visitor pass, which is required for student pick-up due to illness or emergencies. Note: No student will be dismissed during the last 30 minutes of the school day (1:40 PM - 2:1O PM).
Emergency drills-including fire, tornado, and critical incident drills-will be conducted regularly. A Lockdown Drill and a Tornado Drill will occur within the first two weeks of school, followed by monthly Lockdown and Fire Drills. Notifications will be provided to parents, guardians, students, and staff.

It is my privilege to begin my third year as your assistant principal for the 2025-2026 school year. I look forward to continuing our collaboration in supporting your child's growth and development. Together with Mrs. Palacios, I will draw upon my experience as a district administrator, elementary educator, and assistant principal to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education and positive school experience. Our commitment is to meet each student where they are and provide tailored support across all areas.
We encourage you to engage with your child about their daily experiences at West Hollywood Elementary School to stay informed of the learning opportunities taking place.
